Tobacco & Tree Dieta
November 2–30, 2026
Samana Wasi · Urubamba, Sacred Valley, Peru
The plant dieta is a chance to learn from one of the Master Plant teachers. “Dieting” is a traditional process undertaken to learn and heal deeply from a plant.
The dieta is done in isolation, giving the participant an opportunity to deeply be with themselves, observe and understand the mind, and allow the plant to work as fully and deeply as possible.
The Dieta Process
Guests arrive during the day, settle into their accommodation, and may have a diagnostic consultation to help determine which plant may be most beneficial for their process.
They then begin the ceremony and dieta process that same day or evening.
During the dieta, food is intentionally kept to a minimum to allow the plant to work as deeply as possible.
Guests will have a juice, smoothie, or light soup twice a day—enough to maintain the physical strength needed to undertake what can be a strong and profound process.
Guides & Support
The dietas will be guided by Jason and his colleague Merav, a highly experienced tabaquera.
Together, they have worked with and guided more than a thousand people through ceremonies involving a variety of plants.
The retreat offers the opportunity to work with both an experienced male and female guide throughout the process.
Duration
Guests may choose to stay for one, two, or three weeks.
Each dieta consists of eight days and eight nights.
During each dieta:
- Guests take their medicine each day.
- Guests have a daily consultation with the guides.
- The dieta concludes on the eighth morning with a small ceremony and a meal.
- Guests have dinner that evening and may depart the following morning.
Working With One Tree
Each dieta is dedicated to working with one tree.
The organizers recommend staying for at least two weeks for those who wish to go more deeply into the medicine.
There is a two-day break between dietas for rest and recuperation.
Guests continuing their dietas may remain on-site during the break.
No food will be prepared during these two days, but restaurants, grocery stores, and markets are nearby. The break also provides an opportunity to:
- Get out of the retreat center
- Use the internet
- Rest and integrate
- Do laundry
- Take care of errands in town
Location
The dietas will take place at Samana Wasi in Urubamba, Peru, in the Sacred Valley of Peru.
The location sits in a region where the lowland Amazonian jungle meets the high Andean mountain range.

Important: Support Team
For this retreat, Jason will be working remotely, while Merav, Stephanie, an assistant, and an apprentice who will be shadowing the work will be present in person.
This means there will be an experienced support team on-site throughout the retreat.
Jason originally intended to attend in person. However, after planning the retreat, he and his wife learned they were expecting their second child. Due to airline regulations, his wife is unable to fly during this period, and Jason therefore cannot be away from his family for such an extended time.
Jason will nevertheless remain fully engaged with guests each day, connecting via Zoom rather than in person.
The organizers state that they have used this approach successfully several times previously and that it has worked without a noticeable impact on the quality or continuity of the work.
Apprenticeship Program
A 10% discount is available for the Apprenticeship Program after completing six tree dietas.
